Psychotherapy is a unique space. On the surface, it provides an individual the opportunity to confront various (emotional, cognitive, spiritual) problems in one’s life and to move toward a more integrated way of being in the world. However, in this process of self-exploration, psychotherapy often becomes an avenue by which we might reveal a much more authentic way of relating to ourselves and to others, and in doing so, we can reveal a deep sense of value and meaning in our lives.

As a therapist, this aspect of “authenticity” or “sincerity” is, perhaps, my guiding principle: I am most concerned with
helping you understand and engage whatever it is that gets in the way of simply feeling comfortable in your own skin, and along with this, to reveal a deeper and more vital sense of self. This sense of naturalness and intuition is something which we all deserve, and which we owe ourselves the opportunity to discover.

My practice of psychotherapy is open-ended and can vary across individuals. It is important to me that clients are able to fully take advantage of the space of therapy without feeling beholden to any particular treatment goal or intervention identified by the therapist. My practice is influenced by several schools of thought. Most prominently: traditions of contemplative practice and Eastern philosophy, particularly Zen Buddhism and Classical Daoism; post-enlightenment Western philosophy, such as the work of Martin Heidegger and Friedrich Nietzsche; Jungian psychoanalysis; and the modern traditions of Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

In my personal life, I live with my wonderful partner in Pittsburgh, alongside our three cats. I enjoy spending time thinking and reading. I love drinking tea. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.
