Division of Sport Psychology

Welcome

You’re here because the space where you most belong is one dedicated to sports and motion. It is a domain where your spirit accesses nourishment via movement, performance, and joyful play. In this space, the energy and efforts you give come together to shape not just what you do, but who you are. You’re called an Athlete, and it is one of the safest and most fulfilling identities you embody.

The best athletes in the world aren’t just physically gifted; they are connected—to their sport, their teammates, and most importantly, to the joy of play. Traditional sport psychology approaches problems in sport as individual work, which disconnects athletes and drives them further from their community and themselves. At Confluence Mind and Motion, we help athletes identify and repair ruptures within their community. This reconnection unlocks an athlete’s ability to access play as a direct pathway to winning.

About

Spencer Kilpatrick, MSW, LCSW

Athlete Development Specialist | Sport Social Worker

Welcome to Confluence Mind and Motion, Division of Sport Psychology. This is a space where my expertise as a licensed psychotherapist, Sport Social Worker (ASWIS-certified), and coach blend together to help athletes and coaches build resilience, connection, and sustainable success. As a former Division II collegiate tennis player and longtime coach (Certified Tennis Professional (PTR), I understand both the psychological and technical demands of sport and movement, grounding my work in play, attachment science, and developmental psychology.

My approach integrates sport mental skills training with emotional depth, which helps athletes reconnect with the joy of movement, manage pressure, and thrive in competition and life. Work with me through one-on-one coaching, team workshops, and specialized process groups designed to enhance performance, strengthen team dynamics, and foster long-term well-being in sport.
